When summer arrives in Krakow, the city comes alive with a variety of activities and attractions for both locals and visitors. In this post, we will look at five popular outdoor attractions during the hotter months of the year.
Forum Przestrzenie
Forum Przestrzenie (simply known as ‘Forum’) is a unique venue situated by the Vistula River, in Krakow’s Dębniki district. Housed in a converted Soviet-era hotel, this multifunctional venue offers a variety of activities including eating and drinking, salsa classes and ping pong. Many visitors and locals come to relax on its huge terrace, which offers great riverside views and hundreds of beach chairs for lounging. With regular events, weekend DJ parties and the Hala Forum food market next door, Forum is Kraków’s top riverside hangout spot.
Arena Garden
Arena Garden is a popular food truck park located on the eastern side of Tauron Arena concert hall in Krakow’s Czyżyny district. The venue offers over 20 different types of fast food, including sushi, tacos, burgers, fries, pad thai, pizza and ice cream. Coffee, beer and mixed drinks are also available. Surrounding the food trucks is a giant beer garden and a park filled with deck chairs for summer lounging. There are also bouncy castles, swimming ponds and other attractions for kids.
Bagry Lagoon
The Bagry Lagoon is an artificial lake situated about 5km from the market square, between the Podgórze and Bieżanów administrative districts. This popular attraction offers a variety of recreational activities including swimming and sailing. There are also several beaches for sunbathing, and the water is regularly monitored and certified clean. In the surrounding park, there’s a playground for children playground, benches and hammocks for resting, as well as volleyball courts and a seasonal food truck park at the main beach.
Hype Park
This popular outdoor area is located just north of the Old Town, between several brick railway warehouses. The area features multiple stages for varying events, as well as food trucks and chill-out zones. It looks like a summer festival in the middle of the city, with a large entrance gate and security checks. In the evening there are parties and special events.
Zakrzówek
Located in the Dębniki district of Krakow, Zakrzowek is a limestone quarry turned into a huge body of water. Not as crowded as the Bagry Lagoon, it is more well-known among local people and students. With its beautiful, crystal clear water and surrounding parks and rocks with amazing views and picnic spaces, it is one of the city’s hidden summer gems. The place is open for swimming, but unlike Bagry there are no lifeguards in place, so the city has installed signs warning swimmers that they swim at their own risk.
